Bella Farm, an incubator farms participating in the Intervale Center’s Farms Program, will be leaving after the 2011 growing season. We’re sad to wave goodbye to Bella Farm and proprietor Rachel Schattman, but we know that her future will be bright and filled with delicious pesto and herbs!

Rachel has been a participant in the Farms Program since 2009, and will transition  to a family-owned piece of land in Monkton for 2012. Bella’s new farmland features rich, loamy soil as well as a gorgeous historic barn.

Rachel says, “Being a part of the Farms Program has helped me do exactly what I set out to do: Get the farm off the ground, truth-test some ideas, and gain experience.   I’m grateful for the check-ins, the support and the opportunities that being a part of the Intervale [Center’s] community has provided. It doesn’t seem possible to fully articulate how much I’ve learned in the past 2 years!”

Even though Bella Farm is moving, this doesn’t mean that Rachel’s delicious pesto is going away. It is available at City Market and the winter Burlington Farmers’ Market.

Congratulations, Rachel, and best of luck!
